TV / GUESTROOM - COBHAM  UK

 

I was given the opportunity by these lovely clients to transform their playroom into a TV/Guestroom. They wanted this space to be more than a playroom that was just used by the kids. They wanted it to be cosy and inviting for adults as well, and they also wanted to have the possibility to turn it into a guestroom where family and friends could stay when visiting. If space would allow it, they asked me to add a small desk and some extra storage.

To create a more inviting and cosy atmosphere I introduced two new colours to the overall scheme that, compared to the existing white walls, added more warmth to the room. To complement these colours and to add more texture I applied a mural to the wall of one of the niches behind the sofa. For the sofa, we opted for a double sofa-bed to accommodate guests when needed and we even managed to add a custom-made desk with shelving. Extra storage was created by adding cabinets on two sides of the room. By painting these in the same colour as the wall behind it, the room looks less cluttery and this way decorative items will stand out more.
