HOLIDAY COTTAGE - LIVING ROOM
SCOTTISH  HIGHLANDS

This client contacted me after she had purchased a lovely, 4 bedroom cottage in the Scottisch Highlands. The cottage had a dated interior and she asked my advise for what would be the best lay-out and also suggestions on how to furniture and style the Living Room. She wanted it to have a classy yet slightly rustic, warm and inviting feel with neutral colours, lots of textures and a “touch" of Scotland.

As this was during Covid lockdown, all was done via my Distance Design Service.  After our initial chat about her ideas for this project, I created a Moodboard which I first presented to her before working on the final Design Proposal. Once that was finished we arranged a call so I could present and explain my ideas via the Lay-out plan. The space itself was quite narrow and the double doors and fire place were a bit of a challenge to find the optimal lay-out that would seat 8 people. I managed to find a sofa with the right size & shape to fit the room and even managed to add some storage and a bean bag nook in the other corner of the room. This will create very flexible seating possibilities and at the same time will give children a comfortable and relaxing reading or play nook after a long day out. The fire place also needed to be updated, so I came up with a few  ideas on how she could do this, and the client opted for the idea of adding a rustic oak beam above it. I also gave her suggestions for curtain fabric and a lighting plan to maximise functionality and atmosphere. After the Design presentation she received a detailed digital list  with all the suggested items with direct links to make ordering them all  very straight forward. Can’t wait to see this beautiful cottage after lockdown is lifted, it will be gorgeous!
