HOLIDAY COTTAGE - DINING ROOM
SCOTTISH  HIGHLANDS

After designing the living room in this lovely, 4 bedroom cottage in the Scottisch Highlands, I started with the dining room. I thought of a new, more modern design with a more functional lay-out for this space and also came up with suggestions on how to furniture and style the Dining Room. The client wanted it to have a classy, yet slightly rustic, warm and inviting feel with neutral colours, lots of textures and a “touch" of Scotland.

As this was during Covid lockdown, all was done again via my Distance Design Service. I first created a Moodboard which I presented to her before working on the final Design Proposal. Once that was finished we arranged a call so I could present and explain my ideas via the Lay-out plan and a full digital list with links to all the suggested items.

As the Cottage contains 4 bedrooms, the dining room needs seating for 8. By choosing a longer dining table with a bench on the one side, not only the seating options are more flexible but at the same time it also saves space in the rather narrow shaped  room. To add a touch of Scotland, like the client wanted, we added a striking XL mural with a Scottish Highlander. This has become the eye-catcher of the room and a comfortable bench seat in front of it creates an additional, inviting seating area without taking up too much space, as it would otherwise compromise the functional walking space and flow in the room. With my suggested lighting plan we have added some extra functional, but also  aesthetically more pleasing, lights. The cottage is now advertised on the rental market and a very modern & popular place to stay in the middle of natures beauty.
